Super Micro Plans Major Expansion in Europe to Meet Soaring AI Server Demand

Super Micro is set to boost its presence in Europe by expanding the manufacturing of its AI server infrastructure, according to CEO Charles Liang. The company, known for building high-performance servers powered by Nvidia chips, currently operates facilities in the Netherlands but is now looking to grow further across the region.

“Demand in Europe is accelerating rapidly, and we’ve already made plans to increase our investment, including adding more manufacturing capabilities,” Liang said during a recent summit in Paris, France.

He emphasized that the demand for AI servers is not limited to Europe, noting that global interest continues to rise and is expected to remain strong for years to come.

Liang’s remarks follow Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang’s recent tour across Europe, where he encouraged countries to build out their AI infrastructure and computing capacity.

Super Micro has seen substantial growth thanks to the AI boom sparked by applications like OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which rely heavily on Nvidia hardware. The company’s stock surged to an all-time high in March 2024 but has since fallen by about 60%, largely due to investor concerns over its financial reporting and accounting practices. However, those worries were eased when the company submitted its delayed fiscal 2024 report earlier this year.

Despite a weaker-than-expected outlook shared in May, Liang remains optimistic. “Our core technologies continue to evolve, and we are broadening our business operations. The opportunity for growth is still massive,” he stated confidently.
