Alibaba Unveils AI Smart Glasses to Rival Meta and Xiaomi in Next-Gen Tech Race
Alibaba has announced the launch of its first-ever smart glasses, powered by its in-house artificial intelligence, signaling the tech giant’s entry into the wearable tech market. The new device — called the Quark AI Glasses — is set to debut in China by the end of 2025 and will run on the company’s Qwen large language model along with its intelligent assistant, Quark.
Based in Hangzhou, Alibaba is rapidly advancing in China’s AI industry, developing tools and platforms that rival leading global players. With the growing push toward wearable technology as the next evolution beyond smartphones, Alibaba aims to expand the reach of its Quark assistant — which is already available as a mobile app — by embedding it into a dedicated hardware product.
The Quark AI Glasses represent Alibaba’s direct response to Meta’s AI-driven smart eyewear developed in partnership with Ray-Ban. The launch also places Alibaba in competition with fellow Chinese tech firm Xiaomi, which earlier this year released its own version of AI-enabled glasses.
This move reflects a broader strategy by major tech firms to define the future of personal computing through immersive, intelligent wearables.
